Pallith's Log Entry #1 (Session 1 and 2)
I suppose I should be writing some of this stuff down, we are on a scouting mission and there needs to be some documentation. I'll probably be the only one seeing this as someone else will probably give the report. But mine as well write down my opinions on the mission.
So we are on a scouting mission as I said, investigating Stormguard City, which is north of Freeport. We are being sent there to see what happened to the city after a invasion of something called the Dal'Hi. Of course the only reason why I am even on this mission is because I was tricked into it... kind of. I got too greedy once again and didn't ask questions when Elexis asked me to join. I was almost fully free, then I put myself to someone's work other then mine.
I suppose I need to clarify something, I am not alone obviously. I am on this mission with five other people: Elexis, Geddon, Shen, Halim, and Malik. Elexis is the one I owe for the opportunity to join this scouting party. A tiefling with a rather sweet voice. She seems to be a bit manipulative, knowing what words to say to get others to do what she wants and also using her natural looks to get the guys to do her bidding. I'll say she does have a nice ass, but I'm not as easily persuaded by her looks as the guys, though I don't think she knows to try on me. She seems to have a good connection to the Undercity of Freeport though I don't know how deep that goes.
Geddon, our appointed leader by someone, is a former soldier of Stormguard City and has had contact with these Dal'Hi. He is a competent leader so far, though he hasn't really did much just yet, just called himself leader and Elexis is second in command. He has a bit of magic to him, able to call small images of what he wants and this is how he shows us the Dal'Hi. Now I don't know why we should follow a man who is apparently the only survivor of his army but we are. I don't want the position, I just want to finish this and get back to the city.
Shen, our... team idiot? This man I don't know why he is here. He seems to be able to fight just well, but outside of that he seems very... absent. He is looking for his master, who might be somewhere near Stormguard, so he is with us. When I first saw him he was stumbling about the city, looking for his master asking any random person who would listen. I happen to be one of those people and I have to be a little careful around him in case he some how remembers I tried to steal from him, but I think that has already fled the empty skull he has.
Halim, my savior, this little twig boy is actually a competent assassin. He actually managed to sneak into my ex-master's house without either Lougith or I hearing him. Proceeded to murder him and, for some odd reason, stab him up on the wall and proceeded to paint the wall with his blood in a prayer to Ardent apparently. If it wasn't for his stupid humming I wouldn't have noticed he was in the house and saw him doing his thing. Ah, such a great sight, that fucker pinned to the wall his blood spread everywhere. Halim tried to preach the word of Ardent to me for some odd reason, but I just shoved him out of the house. I then proceeded to have a very lovely night of dismemberment and desecration of his corpse.
Malik, a strong half-orc of the slums, not much to say of this guy. He like hit things and like to look at shiny. He is also afraid of the dark... I like the dark, I hate his stupid little night light.
That is the scouting party, including me obviously, a mix and match of people and personalities all of which I have no idea how they will work together. But it will only be for a short time, just one mission, then I can get back to my old life, and the ones I know.
As for the mission, we were originally going to set off on horses, which apparently would take several months to get to Stormguard by that method. But Geddon managed to secure us an airship, first time seeing an airship up close, just looks like a ship that would be in the water, just in the sky. And this airship moves fast, extremely fast, I didn't expect this thing to move as it did. I got pinned to the wall when this thing took off and when I finally got to move after getting used to it I ran to the railings and looked back, the city was merely a spot at that point with some black smoke coming from it. In just a few moments we moved so far away, I couldn't believe it.
The mission went from a few months to a week at that point, the airship moving so damn fast everything was a blur. It is amazing, vast plains of nothingness, I had never been outside the city, especially this far out. The world is so big, never knew all this existed, I should get out of Freeport more often. We sat around in the ship waiting to hit our destination, had a team meeting, and we waited some more, I'm glad I had the view, would be so bored otherwise.
At some point a dead halt was ordered and I had to fucking book it to not be thrown off, I may need to reconsider my seat on this ship, but the view is soo good on the bow. We stopped because there was a crashed ship out in front of us, another airship, with a skid mark along the ground leading from north to the ship itself down south, so it crashed coming from the direction of Stormguard. We know that there was a scouting ship that was to be doing a fly by before us and this was that ship. It was being raided by a bunch of plains people who lived south of Stormguard and were not too bright, though they seemed a bit more coherent than Shen. We had to beat them down into the ground for them to stop and we got some information out of them, the once green forest is now black, whatever that means.
We took these guys as prisoners for now, making them lead us to the forest, but as we were flying I saw something strange in the distance. A red light appeared on the horizon, it became brighter and brighter and in a very short time a beam of light came from that spot and hit our ship. This caused damage to our sails and the ship lurched downward. I managed to stay on the ship at least and we made an emergency landing. We set up a meeting time with the ship so they can make repairs and we took horses to go off to the forest. The forest started off normally, but it eventually turned to black. The trees, the grass, the ground, all black. Touching anything made it turn to ash in our hands, I put on a mask as others investigated, I just wanted out of this. Eventually we made it to a clearing, all the trees are down or gone, just pure black everywhere. As we continued to where the city should be standing, but is no longer, I saw in the distance another.
This woman is something I have never saw before, a tall feline figure, whose name we figure out is Saya eventually. She is part of a race called Vel'Ri and man can she fucking run. After talking to her and her miming to us, since she could not speak common or anything apparently, she lead us to her city, to speak to the king, who could speak common. We got to the city, which was underground and in a giant pit in a giant metal sphere, no idea how the hell they could do something like that or how the hell they managed to get it underground either. The king was not too happy to see us and pretty much wanted us to leave immediately, but after drinking some silvery liquid that managed to let us speak and hear the other Vel'Ri without difficulty he gave us a night's stay but we are to leave in the morning.
They don't like us, not in the least, we apparently ruin our world, taking down trees for our cities and burning things for our industry, but how else are we to advance if we can't use the natural resources we have access to? Oh well, that is what has happened so far, lets see what happens when we wake up, til then... I wonder if Saya would...
